Years ago after being robbed I decided to get myself a firearm. What I knew but had ignored was that with power comes responsibility. I itched to use it and even when it was not necessary. I couldn’t leave it at home. Whenever someone would make me furious, I would want to make them feel that I had the upper hand. With time I decided to leave it at home because with a firearm you can either save a life of destroy it. I discovered that the mind is as good as a pistol. What you do with it will either save your life or destroy it.
What you do with your mind like a pistol will bring consequences either way. We often make resolutions for a new year. If we don’t put actions to our resolutions and dreams, the mind becomes like a firearm locked in a safe. It serves no purpose at all. If we don’t use our mind constructively, the mind becomes like a gun that is handled recklessly.
Many bad things have happened because of people taking firearms to places they shouldn’t. There are times where out of anger and frustrations we use our minds unwisely. Where have you placed your mind-set? Is it a place where things are well organized or where you may go insane should things not go your way?
Firearms leave traces when used. What are we going to see in you at the end of the year? Whether you focused on the goal that you have set out or not, will manifest through the results. We all know about people who forever want to lose weight but yet there are no positive changes. The trace of doing less is thus evident.
When I applied for a firearm they gave me a form with numerous questions including if I am temperamental or not. Your emotions and emotional intelligence matter. I have seen people who always say that they want to be better, but, yet continue to shoot themselves on the foot because of lack of emotional intelligence and being temperamental.
If we put resolutions and goals for the year without plan and the right state of mind, all the plans become another garbage wish list we hear of every year. Be responsible, accountable, focused and busy. Let us see how you handle your firearm (mind) for the year.
